29"x43" two headed lady in progress - charcoal, screenprint

After a long night of printing, I am getting closer to completing my next print ( a series of 3 monoprints- 29" x 43")  here is a sneak peak!  I am really happy with how the drawing/print combination is going, I feel it is adding action that was needed and allowing for some nice unexpected elements as well (4 eyed heads - etc!)  I have 2 large scale mounted boards that are next on my list, the smaller of which is 45"x45"

Purdue Cancer Culture and Community (CCC) 2011

Yesterday I participated in a 12 hour Drawathon in Patti and Rusty Gallery (Pao Hall) at Purdue.  This Drawathon was done in response to the documentary "More to Live For" by Noah Hutton.  Noah Hutton is this year's Cancer Culture and Community artist coming to Purdue this year.  His documentary follows the struggle of 3 people with adult Leukemia and the importance of registering in the bone marrow database to help other struggling with Leukemia.  Six artists (Christine Wuenschel, Sagan Genesis, Monica Ferrar-Miller, Latoya Hobbs, Alexa Unser and myself)  did a response drawing from noon yesterday to midnight inviting visitors to see the progress of our piece.  There will be an opening on Nov. 4th 5-7p where the film artist along with Seun Adebiyi, a member of the Olympic Skeleton team will attend.  Seun is one of the 3 people covered in the film, and continues to search for a match to help him fight his Leukemia.

Below are some in progress and final images of our Drawathon...

a stop motion film of the progress of the piece will also be on display in the gallery - Show starts tomorrow with reception on Nov. 4th.
